Why is My Linksys Node Not Connecting to Internet?
A Linksys mesh system is made up of multiple nodes. The first node that directly connects to the modem is called the Parent node. The rest of the nodes connect wirelessly/wired to the Parent node. Hence, they are called Child nodes or Secondary nodes.
Many users are complaining about their Linksys node not connecting to internet. In case you are also among them, this is a must-read blog for you.
No matter whether you are facing issue with the Parent node or Child node, this blog will help you address the issue effectively. Thus, do not skip any point.
[Reasons] Linksys Node Not Connecting
At first, we will figure out what is stopping your Linksys Velop Parent node from getting connected to the internet. Thereafter, we will gradually shift our focus to the Child node. After implementing every troubleshooting tip, you should check the internet connection by accessing 192.168.1.1.
1. Linksys Node Not Connecting to Modem [Primary Node Issues]
The Primary or the Parent node shares an Ethernet cable connection with the modem only. Here are the most possible reasons that might be causing the problem with Linksys node:
- The node might be dealing with a network glitch.
- You have not connected your Parent node and modem using a non-damaged Ethernet cable.
- ISP-related issues can also cause the connectivity problem.
Solutions
To fix network glitches, you just need to reboot your Parent node. On the other hand, if the cable connecting your Parent node and modem is found damaged, you should replace it with a new one and do not forget to create a finger-tight connection.
However, if the problem is from the end of your Internet Service Provider, you should get in a talk with him and ask him to fix issues as soon as possible.
2. Linksys Node Not Connecting to Nearest Node [Child Node Issues]
Child nodes connect wirelessly to the Primary node. If they are not able to connect to the Nearest node, then following might be the reasons:
- You have placed your nodes in a congested area (non-ventilated).
- Too much WiFi interference is there in the area where you have placed your Linksys nodes.
- You have placed your nodes too close.
Solutions
Be very sure that you have placed your Linksys Velop nodes in a well-ventilated area. This will provide them room for transmitting WiFi signals. Apart from this, do not place your Linksys nodes in a space where you have kept maximum of your home appliances. For your information, microwave ovens, televisions, refrigerators, baby monitors, etc. affect the signal propagation capability of networking devices.
Also, do not make the mistake of placing your Velop nodes very close. This is because it can result in a clash of WiFi signals of both devices that will certainly result in no internet connection.
Quick Tip: After you are done implementing the given tips, ensure that your Velop nodes are working on the latest firmware versions. It is advised not to update all nodes at once. You have to update them one by one.
The Final Words
Hopefully, with the help of the given tips, you will be able to fix the Linksys node not connecting issue. Just in case problems are still not ready to leave your back, you should reset all Linksys nodes. This time, you should change their roles. It means, set up Parent node as the Child node and vice-versa.
